Product Overview
Xserve RAID combines leading-edge
storage technologies for superior capacity and data protection in a 3U
rack-optimized enclosure. Fast throughput and flexible configuration
options make Xserve RAID ideal for businesses and institutions that
demand high-availability, high-performance storage. With up to 5.6TB of
capacity and innovative tools for remote management, this breakthrough
RAID solution is easy to configure, easy to maintain and powerful
enough to meet your organizations growing storage requirements. The
innovative Apple-designed Xserve RAID architecture combines affordable,
high-capacity Ultra ATA drive technology with a dual 2Gb Fibre Channel
host interface for fast, reliable data access. Each Apple Drive Module
uses a dedicated drive channel, maximizing the 400MB/s Fibre Channel
host connection.
Each 7200 rpm hard drive connects to a
dedicated ATA/100 drive channel to eliminate bottlenecks and maximise
the 400MBps Fibre Channel host connection. This in turn means that as
you add drives, Xserve RAID scales in both capacity and performance.
And with an industry-standard 42U rack holding 35 terabytes of storage,
you can keep adding drives for virtually unlimited storage. Xserve RAID
is designed for non-stop operation, with uninterrupted access to your
critical data. Redundant hot-swappable drives and cooling modules
enable the system to keep running even if one module were to fail. All
active components are modular and designed to be switched in and out of
place in seconds - without tools, and without interruption of service.
